The Rocks of NC project is intended as a general guide to the various rock types present in North Carolina. This website was prepared in an effort to help facilitate a better understanding of the diversity of rock types throughout the state. As more informaton is acquired, updates and edits to this website will occur. This data is not suitable for site-specific geologic evaluations. References are provided and should be reviewed before conducting any site investigations.
